Keeping Cozy

Our whole family is looking forward to this fall season... besides the falling leaves, costumes and trick or treating it brings... the infamous Neewollah Fair begins in two weeks, with rides, food and music. We are excited this year to have family to share it with as well. Aside from all these excitements their are the little things that come with the season. We get to open the windows for a bit and enjoy the crisp air after wiping off the humidity from this past summer. We get to put on layers and blame our 'fluff' on the weather and fashion. We get to add hot chocolate to our staple food groups. But more than the rest, as we often hear this season referred to as 'keeping in' or 'hunkering down' or even the dreaded 'cabin fever' we find that as the weather forces us in that we have a great opportunity to be drawn together in the fall and winter seasons of the year. As we are already a movie watching family, we like to add more themes to the mix to add to these cozy months of the year. It seems we save many of these things for this time of year most of all... it makes the traditions sweeter I suppose. I thought I would share a few here with you.

Our Fall/Winter List of things to do...

::Baking... and sharing... who doesn't welcome a warm plate of goodies to their doorstep
::Puzzle making
::More reading... whether aloud, quietly or on CD. It seems this habit is much more infectious with a cup of hot cocoa and a cozy blanket.
::Visiting old friends
::The fall seems much more conducive to taking walks and strolling at the parks... well for me, I am a terribly hot blooded person in with the warmer weather...
::Playing in the leaves and snow... if that isn't an obvious choice!
::Local plays
:: Learn a new skill, talent or craft... sewing will be mine
::Cuddling
:: Brush up on piano playing... with holiday themed music
::Crafts for kids and for mama... while daddy finds crafts involving his power tools
::Enjoying the girlfriends for Xmas card making parties
::Building an arsenal of recipes to fatten us all up
::Pie parties
::Holiday recipe parties

And when the day is all spent... a little more cuddling under the covers never hurt a family at days end to bring everyone closer together.
